Abacus Solutions  helps prevent technology disasters and – if it's too late – helps companies recover from them. The CEO and co-founder is Georgia Tech grad Patrick Hiller.

Abacus provides products including new and used servers, storage and networking hardware that customers use to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure.

Abacus also offers consulting services including disaster recovery, business continuity and email archival for regulatory compliance – a complex and demanding federal requirement.

Abacus customers include hospitals, banks, retailers and shipping companies, helping Hiller's company maintain 20 percent growth.

What about mentors? Patrick says Russ Umpenour, the former RTM of Arby's franchisees  is one. Another is Vince Lombardi. "The quality of a person's life,” Lombardi once said, "is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen endeavor.” Hiller's personal mantra: "Live in reality.”
