Our fifth ranked company this year focuses on local, local, local. There are plenty of big, monoliothic banks with hefty ad budgets and lots of branches. The trick for Cornerstone Bank has been going deep.

CEO Chris Burnett was brought in two years ago by the board to kick-start growth. He had been with an investment group; merged the operations into Cornerstone, and by focusing on the fast growing and affluent Sandy Springs market, Cornerstone has flourished.

They target commercial and real estate lending, and net loan value is up now to $31 million.

And to top it off, the longtime Sandy Springs resident plays in a rock band called Yuppie Sam, which plays about 20 gigs a year.
